For Over 30 Years,

Buon Giorno was owned and operated by the Battistessa brotherhood. Gabriele, who brought with him the skills he learned in culinary school in Viareggio, Italy, trained all the staff to the level of service you still see today. His passion for cooking could only be outshone by his passion for teaching others to cook. His brother Giorgio stood strong by his side helping where needed whether that be in the kitchen or as wait staff. Together, they created a space that not only their guests but their staff would call home with many having been a part of the famiglia working for decades: like Chef Sahon who began her journey in 1988 and can still be seen working her magic in the kitchen today and long term servers Roberto and Jeremy who have been creating special dining experiences for 20 years.

As Buon Giorno continued to serve consistent meals with excellent service in a prime location, they naturally developed a loyal and loving clientele. With this has come a bit of notoriety: over the years they’ve seen their fair share of celebrity guests from Olympic champions and members of the Calgary Flames and Stampeders to a variety of civic, provincial and federal politicians.

After a brief change in ownership in 2016 and temporary closure in 2020, Buon Giorno’s was bought by David Harrison who aims to keep the the legacy that the Battistessa brotherhood created alive. If you’re lucky, you might even still have the pleasure of Giorgio serving you your meal for the night.

Kept alive for so many years by a strong labour of love, Buon Giorno will continue to stand strong serving Calgary the best Italian food and service, as always.
